Message from our Program Director
Welcome to Medical City Fort Worth general surgery home page. We hope you find this information helpful. Please explore the website to become more acquainted with our program. Our residents routinely finish with experiences in all areas of the general surgery curriculum as designed by the American Board of Surgery. As a resident in our program you will be exposed to training at the top hospitals in their respective fields for trauma, transplant surgery and oncological surgery. The gradual allowance of increasing clinical responsibility has long been a cornerstone of our training philosophy, and we have an extraordinary variety of hospitals available to provide the diverse clinical experiences necessary to mold the proficient surgeon.
The result is that our residents have been enormously successful in achieving their goals upon graduation. A few of our recent graduates have chosen to make their contribution through the private practice of general surgery. Others have moved directly into faculty positions. The majority, though, have pursued additional training in surgical subspecialties, and they have been extraordinarily successful in obtaining fellowship positions in such disciplines as minimally invasive surgery, plastic surgery, breast oncology, and critical care surgery.
We are currently in the pre-accreditation phase with the ACGME and anticipate full accreditation by the end of this year.
Thank you again for your interest in our surgical residency at Medical City Fort Worth. Don’t hesitate to contact us with questions. We look forward to your applications and hope that you are stimulated to learn more about us through a trip to our campus for a personal interview.
