AFib patients have a new alternative to blood-thinning drugs to prevent blood clots and stroke

On July 8, Medical City Fort Worth became the first hospital in North Texas to perform the newly FDA approved WATCHMAN™ heart procedure for atrial fibrillation (AFib), a quivering or irregular heartbeat (arrhythmia). The WATCHMAN™ device guards against stroke and blood clots for people who suffer from irregular heart rhythms, and was approved by the FDA as an alternative to taking warfarin, a blood-thinning drug with potentially serious side effects.
