Medical City Fort Worth Internal Medicine Residency Program
Thank you for your interest in the Internal Medicine training programs at Medical City Fort Worth. This legacy internal medicine residency program has been in operation since 2000. Residents rotate through Medical City Fort Worth, a tertiary care referral center, and through John Peter Smith Hospital, a large, state-of-the-art community hospital with the only Level I Trauma Center in Tarrant County. Residents also rotate through outpatient ambulatory clinics at Veterans Affairs and University of North Texas Health Science Center. The affiliation with the University of North Texas Health Science Center also provides a vast array of resources for our residents, including the only school of public health in Fort Worth with numerous research opportunities. The Internal Medicine Residency Program at Medical City Fort Worth is accredited by both the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) and the American Osteopathic Association (AOA).
Our residency offers a rewarding, educational environment where residents receive individualized learning opportunities to maximize their full potential as clinicians, educators, and healthcare leaders.
Our faculty are committed to ensuring that residents fulfill their educational goals, while recognizing that each individual resident has a somewhat different background, needs and career objectives. Whether in the hospital or outpatient center, our purpose is to prepare graduates for the challenges of patient care in today's environment. We provide a rigorous academic foundation combined with patient diversity, sub-specialty exposure, research opportunities, and complete ancillary support.
Our program is focused on residents becoming well-rounded internal medicine physicians, mastering quality and efficient patient care in both the inpatient and outpatient environment. Our faculty and residents also work together as a team to attain the above goals. We consider ourselves a family, supporting and sustaining one another, to maintain and advance a solid educational system along with our affiliate UNTHSC/TCOM of Fort Worth.
The department of medicine is committed to the pursuit of the highest standards in education, research, and patient care. The program provides teaching programs that foster the development of our internal medicine residents into excellent clinicians. Our residency is designed to be challenging, with clinical programs supported by conferences and teaching sessions.
We are personally committed to working with each of our residents to develop an individual training experience that allows them to attain their personal career objectives. The combination of a diverse patient population, an outstanding and dedicated faculty provides residents in our program with the necessary ingredients for a rich and diverse educational experience.
